Head and neck: Male pigeons have round heads- and slightly thicker and longer necks than female pigeons. On the other hand, the head of a female pigeon is short and oblong and the neck is relatively thin.
Eyes: The eyes of female pigeons are more round than those of male pigeons. If you notice, you will see that the eyes of male pigeons are somewhat flattened.
Behavior: Observing behavior is also a way to identify male and female pigeons. Male pigeons are usually very angry and female pigeons are calm. When you see an unfamiliar pigeon, usually the male pigeon goes ahead and is quite aggressive. If the pigeon has eggs, the male pigeon usually stays in the nest from morning till noon and the female pigeon comes at the end of the day.
Call: The call of a male pigeon is louder than that of a female pigeon and its voice is thicker. Besides, the way of recognizing the male and female of the pigeon is another special thing that the male pigeon calls to the beat of the dance.
Toes: The way to recognize the male and female of pigeons is their toes. Usually the fingers on the side of a female pigeon are not equal to the fingers on the front. But the finger next to the male pigeon is almost equal to the front finger. The toes of male pigeons are rough and dull compared to female pigeons.
Anus: The way of recognizing the male and female of a pigeon is easier during breeding. Because in this condition the difference between the anus of male and female pigeons can be clearly understood. The anus of male pigeons is usually flat and the anus of female pigeons is round.
Tail test: For this, you have to hold the pigeon’s wing with your hands. In this case, keep an eye on the pigeon’s tail. If the tail is straight then the pigeon is male. And if the tail is upwards then the female pigeon.
Mating: Mating usually depends on the approval of the female pigeon. If you notice that at this time one pigeon follows another pigeon, in this case, the pigeon that follows is male and the one that followed is female. The male pigeon continues to follow the female pigeon until she accepts him as her mate.
