One day, in a ghost family, a baby ghost was born. Fluffy, chubby, and bright pink!
A pink ghost? That’s unheard of!
2
The whole forest went silent. No one had seen anything like this before.
Ghosts from nearby gathered around.
One said, “What’s this? Ghosts are supposed to be black, with scary faces! What can a pink ghost even do?”
An old ghost stroked his beard and said,
“Leave it out on a new moon night. In a few days, it’ll turn black.”
But the baby ghost’s parents didn’t care.
They were busy dreaming of the day their pink baby would go to ghost school.
3
The pink ghost started school. There, ghosts are taught how to scare people.
The black ghost kids laughed at it.
“No need for you to scare anyone. People will faint just from laughing at your color!”
Though some said, “Wow, you’re as pretty as a flower!”
One even said in English, “What a cute pink ghost!”
4
Still, the pink ghost felt sad.
One day, it thought, “I don’t want to be so different from everyone else. I need to do something special.”
And then it had a brilliant idea.
5
None of its classmates had ever scared anyone yet.
“I’ll be the first to do it!” it decided.
That night, while everyone was busy practicing their spooky skills, the pink ghost quietly floated down from the old banyan tree and headed toward human houses.
6
One house.
By the window sat a little girl, studying.
The pink ghost stood silently beside the window.
“O human! I am a terrifying ghost! Hooo haaa grrr!”
The little girl burst into laughter.
“Oh wow! What a lovely pink ghost!”
7
The pink ghost was shocked.
The girl reached out through the window and picked it up into her lap.
She gently stroked its fluffy head.
The baby ghost was trembling in fear.
8
The girl placed a piece of chocolate in the ghost’s hand.
The pink ghost had never tasted such a thing before.
Delicious!
9
While eating the chocolate, it thought,
“Scaring people won’t get me this.
But if I become friends with human children… maybe I’ll get more!”
10
News of the pink ghost spread through the village.
Now all the children leave their windows open at night.
They call out softly,
“Hey, pink baby ghost! Come to our house!
Have some chocolate!”
11
The other ghosts were amazed.
People weren’t scared of the pink ghost at all.
Instead, they gave it tasty treats!
The pink ghost became everyone’s friend.
Now the other ghosts also bring fun and tasty ghost snacks to children.
And the kids? They’re happier than ever—
they’ve never had such delicious spooky food before!ৃ
