What to do for sore throats in kids

In case of acute tonsillitis, antibiotics like azithromycin, cefixime should be taken. The child should take paracetamol for fever and pain. But do not let children take aspirin. This can cause other illnesses in the baby. However, appropriate antibiotics should be given on the advice of a doctor.

Give the baby enough water and liquid food at this time. If the baby has difficulty swallowing or breathing, salivation or excessive body temperature (more than 101 degrees Fahrenheit) for more than 48 hours, you must look for a doctor.

Make the baby gurgle by warm water. Proper care should be taken so that the baby does not feel cold. Drink plenty of fruit juice. Eat more foods rich in vitamin C. Let the baby drink lukewarm water mixed with honey and lemon. Give him or her more nutritious food. Let a child (age of 6 year) use a mouthwash too. This will destroy the bacteria in the mouth. Do not use mouthwash on very young children. Problems can occur if the baby swallows.

If the tonsils have to be cut – the decision should be taken by a specialist. Parents are very worried about the operation. There is no reason to worry so much. The child recovers quickly after the operation and this will cure the sore throats in kids.
