Attack on Wahida Khanam : Wahida is the eyesore of many in power

Several issues have come to the fore behind the attack on Wahida Khanam, Executive Officer (UNO) of Ghoraghat Upazila in Dinajpur. He was an eye-opener for multiple parties to the local politics of the ruling party. He stood in the way of local MPs, upazila chairmen, Juba League leaders and many others. Multiple sources said that one of these parties may have been behind the attack on Wahid.

According to a Ghoraghat law enforcement source, UNO Wahida will be able to say exactly what kind of dispute was created with which party. A lot of information will come out if he recovers a little. Earlier, local rival groups were desperate to put the blame on the opposition. The police administration is conducting an investigation keeping all parties in the incident of suspicion.

Earlier, a UNO was attacked in Dinajpur-6 constituency. On October 1, 2014, Syed Farhad Hossain, Nawabganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Dinajpur District, was severely beaten. Leaders and activists of local Awami League, Juba League and Chhatra League blamed the incident on the appointment of night watchmen in 39 primary schools in Nawabganj. The attackers were known in the area as followers of MP Shibli Sadiq. This time, the locals are seeing the shadow of the attack on UNO Wahid.

An official of the administration cadre who worked in Dinajpur on condition of anonymity told Kaler Kanth, “All the upazila officials of Dinajpur-6 constituency have to face various unethical pressures from the local MPs.” In this area prone to drugs and terrorism, the PAT leaders also abused the UNOs. ‘

According to a source, an official of the Prime Minister’s Office went to the Neuro Science Hospital in the capital last Thursday to search updates for Wahida Khanum. He conveyed the instructions of the Prime Minister to arrange for the proper treatment of the doctors on duty. At this time, the officer wanted to know the real facts from the family members of Wahida. Family members could not say who attacked Wahida khanam. However, the MP from Dinajpur-6 constituency put under pressure on the Upazila Nirbahi officials of his constituency, the official of the Prime Minister’s Office was informed.

According to a source in the administration cadre, in a virtual meeting of the administration cadre members on Friday night, it was becoming difficult to deal with the unethical pressure of the MPs while working in several UNOs working in different upazilas of the country.

When asked, Shibli Sadiq, MP of Dinajpur-6 constituency, told Kaler Kanth, “It is being said that the attack took place under the umbrella of Jahangir of Juba League.” Whenever I came to know about his misdeeds, I asked the police to take action against him. From then on, he formed friendships with my political opponents. ‘

Earlier, Shibli Sadiq had said that the attack on a UNO in Nawabganj was an exaggeration. In fact, the UNO office was vandalized, but he was not beaten.

Regarding the allegation of putting pressure on the officials in charge of four upazilas under his constituency, Shibli Sadiq said, “This allegation is not true at all. Instead, UNO and OC are lobbying to get postings in my area. ‘

According to a section of the local Awami League, Ghoraghat Upazila Chairman and Upazila Awami League General Secretary Abdur Rafi Khandaker Shahenshah may have been involved in the attack on UNO. UNO Wahida stood in the way of his multiple illegal activities.
