Not just desserts—your Eid main course can also be a sweet delight! Instead of the usual plain polao, try making Navratan Biryani this time.

Ingredients:
- 2 cups Basmati rice
- ½ cup chopped onions
- ½ cup diced potatoes
- ½ cup green peas
- ½ cup broccoli
- ½ cup cauliflower
- ½ cup carrots
- ½ cup cashew nuts
- 4 tbsp almonds
- 4 tbsp raisins
- 10 dried plums (alu bukhara)
- 2 bay leaves
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 6 small cardamoms
- 6 cloves
- 6 tbsp oil
- 3 tbsp ghee
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp sugar
- ½ cup milk
- 4 tbsp cream (malai)
- A pinch of saffron
- 1 tsp kewra water
Instructions:
- Wash the rice and soak it for a while. Drain it when it’s half-cooked.
- Mix milk, cream, saffron, and kewra water and set aside.
- Lightly fry all the vegetables with a little salt and set them aside.
- Heat oil and ghee, add whole spices, and sauté nuts and raisins.
- Add the fried vegetables and stir for a while.
- Add rice, salt, and sugar, and stir for a few minutes.
- Pour in the milk mixture, cover, and let it steam for 10-12 minutes.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
