Travel in Spring across Bangladesh

Spring, the king of Bangladesh’s six season, is upon us.  It has turned up with multifarious gifts for us and the tourism destinations of Bangladesh have taken up the festive mood too. While the peak tourist season starts from November and prevails until March, covering both winter and spring,this is the best time for people to travel across the country and experience the many wonders it holds.

While Bangladesh is home to numerous travel friendly destinations, there are few ones that are exceptional during spring. Cox’s Bazar, Inani and Himchhari, Teknaf, Sundarbans and Dublar Char, Nijhum Dwip, St. Martin’s and Sylhet top the itinerary. On your way to St. Martin’s Island stop at Inani Beach and Teknaf to soak in the sights. While visiting Inani, tourists can enjoy the vastness of the calm sea and the millions of red crabs and stones lying along the beach in this season.

Cox’s Bazar – one of the longest sea beaches in the world, attracts millions of domestic tourists every year. The stunning miles of sandy beach with a backdrop of towering cliffs amaze them. Spring is the best season for tourists to play beach games, go for sea adventures and tan under the sun. You can also buy souvenirs, specially from Jhinuk market situated close to the beach. Currently, facilities are being worked on to enhance them for tourists convenience at Cox’s Bazar by both government and private sector organisations.

While you are on your way back from Cox’s Bazar, tourists can make a stopover at Chittagong to see the glamorous Foy’s Lake, Patenga Beach, Parky Beach and the Second World War Cemetery. These attractions bear immense value for Bangladesh and are popular spring destinations.

Another destination that can be added to the list of places to visit is the Chittagong Hill District (CHT) region for a week. Spring brings out the beauty of the CHT region, the district turns itself into a tranquil heaven for nature lovers: green hills and sprawling valleys are dotted with waterfalls and small lakes. Tourists can visit Rangamati – the lake city blushing with colourful exotic people that adds to the romance of this paradise. You can make a boat journey at Kaptai Lake and visit Shuvolong as well. You can shop for souvenirs and savour traditional food and tribal dancing at Rangamati. While there, you should also visit Bandarban for some adventure.This place has plenty of trekking options that give you panoramic views of Boga Lake and the highest peaks of Bangladesh – Tajing Dong and Keokradong.

Another destination on your way to the magnificent St. Martin’s Island is Teknaf. Tourists will be enthralled with the calm beauty of the hill covered in lush green forest. The serene blue waters Naf River will also spellbindyou. .

The Sundarbans is the prime spot in Bangladesh that lures tourists from all around the world. Make a visit to the Sundarbans through an organised package tour. The bio-diversity of the Sundarbans is a gorgeous sight and an absolute must. If you are lucky enough, you may hear the roar of the Royal Bengal Tiger. You will also be able to glance different kinds of animals like monkey, reptiles and deer and crocodiles. You will find birds hovering above your head, singing in praise of the Sundarbans.

Some other areas that can be visited during spring or summer are located in the North-East region of Bangladesh. The Lawachhara Forest with its rare and medicinal plants, Tangua Haor and the chirping of millions of migratory birds there and Hakaluki Haor of Sylhet are spectacular. The world class Monipuri dance, of course, should not be miss. This acclaimed dance will cast a magic spell on you. The silent nature of Jaintia, Tamabil, tea-gardens of Srimongal are worth visiting in winter. The plucking of tea leaves is a spectacular view.

Meanwhile, you can also make a short visit to Birishiri and Susang Durgapur. The green hills across the border of India, the Shomeswari River and China Clay Dune, will all enthral you. The tribal cultural museum adds extra value to your visit.

There are many other attractions for you to visit in winter. Few prominent among them are Paharpur – the single-largest Buddhist monastery of the Southern Himalaya located in Naogaon district; Mahasthangarh – a 3rd century archaeological site located in Bogra district and also Kantaji Temple of Dinajpur district. If you go first to Dinajpur, you can visit Kantaji Temple, Ram Sagar, Jamindar Bari, etc. Then come down to Paharpur where you can go to Jagaddal Vihara and Vimer Panty of Joypur district.

While travelling in different areas of Bangladesh, you should not miss the typical foods of each area/region. Pitha, Payesh, oranges of Sylhet and drinks like date juice are a must for foodies. few other fruits that can be relished during spring are Barkul, watermelon, Bel (wood apple), Bangi, caw fal, dewa, cucumber, green mango, etc.

Each season in Bangladesh has its own colour and beauty that lures tourists. Bangladesh is a land of many wonders. With a rich history, diversified culture and impeccable natural beauty, it deserves to be visited more than once. Along with the hospitality of the people, there are all necessary facilities available to make travel across the country memorable for you. Bangladesh is always ready to welcome tourists.
