They are the perfect answer for those seeking moments of relaxation and freedom out of the usual city rut. We explore few islands to enjoy this summer.
Phi Phi Islands, Thailand
Blessed with exotic marine life, including leopard sharks and colourful coral reefs, Phi Phi Islands are a beautiful combination of stone and sand beaches and warm Andaman Sea. Visit the six islands that make this island group for a spectacular holiday. You can visit Phi Phi Don for the Monkey Beach and take a longtail boat to the fantastic Maya Bay. Three nights would be enough to make way through all the tourist spots of this beautiful island group.
Tioman Island, Malaysia
With clear streams and white-sand beaches, Tioman Island is an idyllic spot for a leisurely vacation. Come here to see and experience the multi-hued coral and tropical fish and spot butterflies, monitor lizards and deer. Also visit one of the several villages around the coastline, which make for an excellent day’s trip. St. Martin’s Island, Bangladesh
This coral island, which is about 10 km south-west of the southern tip of the mainland, is a tropical cliché, with beaches fringed with coconut palms and bountiful marine life. It has the most amazing blue water. Away from the maddening crowd, the serenity in this island will help you meditate and purify your soul. The air is so fresh and soothing and the water is clearer than crystal. You can go to the St. Martin from Dhaka, Chittagong or Cox’s Bazar. To reach this island, one has to come to Teknaf, from here you can ride a sea truck, ship, or shallow engine boat to the island.
Nha Trang, Vietnam
Ringed by a necklace of hills and with a sweeping crescent beach, Nha Trang offers a stunning setting. It an ideal destination for adventure seekers looking out for some memorable scuba diving. Check out the Bao Dai Villas here for a breath-taking view of the bay. You also can visit the National Oceanographic Museum of Vietnam for the sharks, turtles, coral reefs, lionfish, sea horses and Long Son Pagoda for the 79 feet tall white Buddha statue.
