Family fun

Hitting the beach is often the first priority for younger travellers. And the sands at JBR are perfect for all ages – the biggest draw being the giant inflatable waterpark anchored out at sea. The whole family can swing, slide, bounce, climb and inevitably make a splash off this edifice of fun.

One of the most important itinerary while with your family is the Dubai Mall. If you are travelling with kids, KidZania or Sega Republic cannot be missed. While KidZania is a child-sized world where little guests can play make believe and try their hand at over 80 careers, Sega Republic is the place for thrill seekers. Take on the Sonic Hopper, Halfpipe Canyon or see who has the best shot in the family when you take aim with the water pistols.

Catch a movie at the 22-screen cinema, glide onto the Dubai Ice Rink and step outside and watch the Dubai Fountain spring to life: the Dubai Mall is never short of choices. One can also try swimming with dolphins in the Dolphin Bay at Atlantis and come in close touch with these adorable creatures, swim with them and even enjoy the thrill of a double dorsal tow.

 

For couples

Couples often heed to Dubai for relaxation and rejuvenation. If you have the same agenda in mind, head straight to the beach after you land and go and soak up some sun. Many of the resorts have their very own private beaches exclusively for guests. Follow this up with a spa to go on a complete holiday mood. Many resort spas offer private rooms just for couples.

The following day, couples who are ready for adventure can see the golden Dubai desert from the basket of a hot air balloon. Balloon Adventures will escort you from your hotel before dawn, but we recommend an early start to witness the spectacular sunrise. Follow this with an afternoon tea at the world’s highest restaurant, Atmosphere, within the world’s tallest tower, the Burj Khalifa.

You can even show your love to your partner by presenting her a dazzling diamond or unique piece of jewellery. Dubai is the world’s biggest gold market, selling jewellery at significantly lower prices than elsewhere. Either head to the old Gold Souq in Deira or the modern Gold and Diamond Park in Al Quoz.

For a vintage experience, visit the winding lanes in the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood. Home to wind-tower houses, art galleries and refreshments in the courtyard cafés, the history tour continues as you stroll through the original Arabian souqs where you can barter for silks and textiles in every colour imaginable.

 

All boys trip

Dubai is one of the leading cities in the world for extreme sports, so start the day on a high note and head to Skydive Dubai to hurl yourself out of a plane at 13,000 ft above Palm Jumeirah. If you haven’t done this act before, don’t worry. With Skydive instructors at the helm, you’ll be in safe hands as you soar through the cloudless sky.

 

If you are a car enthusiast and want to test your driving skills, Dubai’s Autodrome will be the perfect place. With cars ranging from an Audi R8 V10 or even a specially-prepared single-seater car you’ll carve for speed. Another extreme sport to try is wakeboarding and wake surfing. Ask the guys at Xtreme Wake to teach you the ropes, and then take you for an adrenaline-fuelled spin to see how long you survive on the waves.

 

Evenings are calm in Dubai and are the best time to venture into Dubai’s biggest playground – the desert. Look for one of the many operators, don your helmet and weave through the trackless desert, tackling both low and high dunes on a quad bike or dune buggy. Dubai also offers a host of options where you can catch the latest games live on a big screen. Head to the beachside Barasti at Le Méridien Mina Seyahi or McGettigan’s at JLT and watch your favourite game live.

 

History lover

For someone who is looking to experience cultural Dubai, start with the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood – the area where the city’s first wealthy merchants set up home back in the 1850s. Their grand houses are distinctive because of their beautiful wind towers. The labyrinth of lanes and courtyards will tell you a history and significance of this district. The Dubai Museum is also nearby.

Having learnt about Dubai’s beginnings, see it for yourself when you walk beside the Creek towards Shindagha and visit Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum’s House, the original home of the grandfather of Dubai’s current Ruler of Dubai. See the yard where he played as a boy and marvel at the black-and-white photos on display of a bygone era. After that, step back in time at the Heritage and Diving Village museums next door.

 

If time permits, explore the souqs – the original marketplaces where traders and craftsmen have toiled for over 150 years. Having enjoyed the Textile Souq on the Bur Dubai side of the Creek, take an abra – a traditional wooden boat – across the bustling Creek to Deira where you’ll find the aromatic Spice Souq and the dazzling Gold Souq.

 

 

 

প্রগতিশীল দুবাই

দুবাই শহরটি সবার জন্য। হতে পারে আপনারা দম্পতি, একদল বন্ধু বা পরিবারের সঙ্গে ঘুরতে এসেছেন, সবার জন্যই থাকছে একটি নিখুঁত ভ্রমণতালিকা।

ব্যবসা, ছুটি কিংবা কেনাকাটা; প্রতিবছরই লাখ লাখ পর্যটক ঝাঁক বেঁধে আসে দুবাইতে। বিনোদনের একরাশ আয়োজনের মধ্য দিয়ে বিলাসি গন্তব্য হিসেবে এ শহরের রয়েছে আলাদা সুনাম। তবে তার মানে এই নয় যে এখানকার অগণিত আকর্ষণ ও ‘জীবনে একবার আসে’ ঘরানার যাবতীয় উপকরণ উপভোগ করতে আপনাকে ভারি পার্স নিয়ে ঘুরতে হবে। দুবাইতে সবই আছে, কথাটা কিন্তু মোটেই বাড়িয়ে বলা নয়।

 

পারিবারিক মজা

তরুণ ভ্রমণকারীদের কাছে সৈকতে ঢুঁ মারাটাই দেখা যায় তালিকার প্রথমে থাকে। আর জেবিআর এর বালুময় সৈকতটা যেন সকল বয়সীদের জন্যই নিখুঁত- যার বড় আকর্ষণটা হলো সমুদ্রের ওপর ভেসে বেড়ানো অতিকায় ভাসমান ওয়াটারপার্ক। আনন্দের এই অট্টালিকায় চড়ে গোটা পরিবারই মেতে উঠতে পারে সুইং, ¯øাইড, বাউন্স, ক্লাইম্ব কিংবা জলের ওপর অবধারিত ঝাঁপাঝাঁপি উপভোগে।

পরিবারের সঙ্গে দুবাই গেলে তালিকায় অবশ্যই যা থাকবে তা হলো দুবাই মল। বাচ্চাদের সঙ্গে নিয়ে গেলে কিডজানিয়া বা সেগা রিপাবলিক কিছুতেই বাদ দেওয়া যাবে না। কিডজানিয়া শিশুদের আকারেই তৈরি করা হয়েছে যেখানে খুদে অতিথিরা ‘কল্পনাটা সত্যি হয়ে গেল’ খেলতে পারবে। খেলতে পারবে তাদের কল্পনার প্রায় ৮০টি পেশা নিয়ে। অন্যদিকে সেগা রিপাবলিক হলো তাদের জন্য যারা রোমাঞ্চের জন্য হন্যে হয়ে থাকে। সনিক হপার, হাফপাইপ ক্যানিয়নে ঢুঁ মেরে আসুন, অথবা পানির পিস্তল হাতে নিয়ে পরীক্ষা হয়ে যাক পরিবারের কার হাতের নিশানা সবচেয়ে ভাল।

২২ পর্দার সিনেমায় মুভি দেখে ফেলুন একটা, গøাইড করুন দুবাই বরফ রিংকে এবং বাইরে পা বাড়িয়ে দেখুন কী করে প্রাণ ফিরে পায় দুবাই ফাউন্টেন; দুবাই মল-এ কখনই কিছুর ঘাটতি পড়বে না। চাইলে এখানকার আটলান্টিসের ডলফিন বে’তে সাঁতার কাটা যাবে ডলফিনের সঙ্গে এবং আদুরে ওই প্রাণিটার খুব কাছাকাছিও আসা যাবে। তাদের সঙ্গে সাঁতার কাটতে পারেন এবং চাইলে ডাবল ডোরসাল টো-এর (ডলফিনের পাখা ধরে সাঁতার) রোমাঞ্চটাও নিতে পারবেন।

দম্পতিদের জন্য দুবাই

দম্পতিরা প্রায়ই দুবাইয়ের দিকে ছুটে যায় একটুখানি অবকাশ আর পুনরুজ্জীবিত হতে। আপনার মনেও যদি একই ইচ্ছা থাকে, তবে ল্যান্ড করার সঙ্গে সঙ্গেই সোজা সৈকতের দিকে ছুটে যান, গায়ে মেখে নিন খানিকটা সূর্যের আলো। এখানকার অনেকগুলো রিসোর্টেই আছে অতিথিদের জন্য বিশেষভাবে সাজানো ব্যক্তিগত সৈকত। এরপর নিয়ে নিন স্পা, যা আপনাকে পুরোপুরি ছুটির আমেজ পাইয়ে দেবে। অনেক রিসোর্ট স্পাতেই আছে দম্পতিদের জন্য বিশেষভাবে তৈরি ব্যক্তিগত কক্ষ।

পরের দিন, দম্পতিদের মধ্যে যারা রোমাঞ্চের জন্য তৈরি, তারা একটি গরম বাতাসের বেলুনে চড়ে দেখে নিতে পারেন দুবাইয়ের সোনালি মরুদ্যান। ভোরের শুরুতেই আপনার হোটেল থেকে শুরু হয় বেলুন অ্যাডভেঞ্চার। তবে আমরা পরামর্শ দেব, একটি চোখ ধাঁধানো সূর্যোদয় দেখতে হলে বেলুনে আরো আগেই চড়ে বসতে হবে আপনাকে। এরপর বিশ্বের সবচেয়ে উঁচু টাওয়ার বুর্জ খলিফায় থাকা বিশ্বের সবচেয়ে উঁচু রেস্তরাঁ অ্যাটমোসফিয়ার-এ বসে সেরে নিতে পারেন বিকালের চা পর্ব।

প্রিয়জনের প্রতি ভালবাসা দেখাতে আপনি তাকে উপহার দিতে পারেন একটি ঝলমলে হীরে কিংবা অনন্য একটি গয়না। দুবাই হলো বিশ্বের সবচেয়ে বড় স্বর্ণের বাজার, অন্য যেকোনো স্থানের চেয়ে এখানে গয়না বিক্রি হয় বেশ কম দামে। হয় আপনি দেইরার পুরনো গোল্ড সুকে যান অথবা যেতে পারেন আল কুওজে থাকা আধুনিক বাজার গোল্ড অ্যান্ড ডায়মন্ড পার্ক।

খানিকটা পুরনো আবহে ফিরে যেতে চাইলে আল ফাহিদির ঐতিহাসিক প্রতিবেশে ছড়িয়ে থাকা আঁকাবাঁকা সড়কগুলোতে ঘুরতে যেতে পারেন। সেখানে দেখতে পাবেন উইন্ড-টাওয়ার বাড়ি, আর্ট গ্যালারি এবং কোর্টইয়ার্ড কাফেতে জলখাবারের আয়োজন। ইতিহাসের এ সড়ক ধরে চলতে গিয়ে আরো পাবেন খাঁটি আরব সুক, যেখানে আপনি কল্পনার সব রঙের সিল্ক ও পোশাকের দামদর করতে পারবেন।

 

ছেলেদের জন্য

দুঃসাহসিক খেলায় দুনিয়ায় শীর্ষস্থানীয় শহরগুলোর মধ্যে দুবাই অন্যতম। তাই দিনটা শুরু করুন একটি সফল আয়োজনের ভেতর দিয়ে এবং যাত্রা করুন স্কাই ডাইভ দুবাইয়ের দিকে, যেখানে গিয়ে পাম জুমেইরার ১৩ হাজার ফুট উপরে চড়ে উড়াল দিন উড়োজাহাজ থেকে। আগে যদি এমনটা করে না থাকেন, ঘাবড়াবেন না। স্কাইডাইভ ইন্সট্রাক্টর আছে আপনার রক্ষাকবচ হিসেবে, মেঘমুক্ত আকাশে যখন আপনি ঘুরতে থাকবেন, তখন নিরাপদেই থাকবেন।

আপনি যদি গাড়িপাগল হয়ে থাকেন এবং নিজের গাড়ি চালানোর দক্ষতা ঝালিয়ে নিতে চান, আপনার জন্য যুৎসই জায়গাটি হলো দুবাই অটোড্রোম। অডি আর-৮ ভি-১০ কিংবা বিশেষভাবে বানানো সিঙ্গেল সিটের গাড়ি পাবেন গতির তৃষ্ণা মেটাতে। আরেক দুঃসাহসি খেলা হলো ওয়েকবোর্ডিং ও ওয়েকসার্ফিং। এক্সট্রিম ওয়েক-এর কর্মীর কাছ থেকে শিখে নিন কী করে রোপ করতে হয়, এরপর আপনাকে নিয়ে যেতে বলুন অ্যাড্রিনালিনে পরিপূর্ণ একটি স্পিনে; তবেই বুঝতে পারবেন ওই ঢেউয়ে আপনি কতক্ষণ টিকে থাকতে পারেন।

 

সন্ধ্যার সময় দুবাই খানিকটা নিরিবিলি থাকে এবং এই সময়টাই দুবাইয়ের সবচেয়ে বড় খেলার ময়দান- মরুভ‚মি ঘুরে দেখার জন্য সবচেয়ে সেরা। অনেক অপারেটর পাবেন, এর মধ্য থেকে একজনকে বেছে নিন এবং হেলমেট মাথায় চড়িয়ে ট্র্যাকহীন মরুতে চলতে শুরু করুন। উঁচু ও নিচু বালিয়াড়িতে ঘুরে বেড়ান কোয়াড বাইক কিংবা ডিউন বাগিতে চড়ে। দুবাইতে আরো আছে বড় পর্দায় লাইভ খেলা দেখার অনেকগুলো সুযোগ। এর জন্য সোজা চলে যেতে পারেন লা মেরিডিয়ান মিনা সেয়াহিতে থাকা বারাসতিতে অথবা জেএলটির ম্যাকগেটিগানস-এ; এবং উপভোগ করুন আপনার প্রিয় খেলার লাইভ সম্প্রচার।

 

ইতিহাসপ্রেমীদের জন্য দুবাই

যারা এক সাংস্কৃতিক দুবাইয়ের অভিজ্ঞতার সন্ধানে আছেন, তারা শুরু করতে পারেন আল ফাহিদির ঐতিহাসিক প্রতিবেশে ঘোরার মধ্য দিয়ে। যেখানটায় ১৮৫০ সালে এ শহরের প্রথম অভিজাত বণিক পরিবারটি তাদের বসত গড়েছিল। সুন্দর সুন্দর উইন্ড টাওয়ারের কারণে তাদের অভিজাত বাড়িগুলো একেবারেই আলাদা দেখায়। এখানকার অলিগলির গোলকধাঁধা ও চত্বরগুলো আপনাকে এ শহরের ইতিহাস ও গুরুত্বের কথাই মনে করিয়ে দেবে। কাছেই পাবেন দুবাই মিউজিয়াম।

দুবাইতে যাত্রা শুরুর প্রাথমিক বিষয়াদি জানা হলো যেহেতু, এবার খাঁড়ির পথ ধরে সিনদাঘা যাওয়ার পথে নিজের চোখেই দেখে নিন শেখ সাইদ আল মাখতুমের বাড়ি, দুবাইয়ের বর্তমান শাসকের দাদার আদি বাড়ি ওটা। তিনি তার ছেলেবেলায় যে আঙিনায় খেলতেন, দেখতে পাবেন ওটাও। সঙ্গে আছে হারিয়ে যাওয়া একটি যুগের সাদা-কালো ছবির প্রদর্শনী, যা আপনাকে বিমোহিত করবে। এরপর পাশেই থাকা হেরিটেজ ও ডাইভিং ভিলেজে গিয়ে সময়ের চাকাটাকে ঘুরিয়ে দিন আরো পেছনে।

হাতে যদি সময় থাকে তবে সুকগুলো ঘুরে দেখতে পারেন- এগুলো হলো আদি ও অকৃত্রিম বাজার যেখানে বণিক ও কারিগররা তাদের পণ্য বিক্রি করতে গত দেড়শ বছর ধরে মেহনত চালিয়ে যাচ্ছেন। খাঁড়ির পাশে থাকা বুর দুবাইর টেক্সটাইল সুক যদি উপভোগ করে থাকেন তবে একটা আব্রা নিতে পারেন- ঐতিহ্যবাহী কাঠের নৌকাটা নিয়ে শশব্যস্ত খাঁড়ি ধরে দেইরার দিকে এগোতে গেলেই পাবেন সুগন্ধী মশলা ও চোখ ধাঁধানো সোনাদানার সুক তথা ছোট বাজার।
